It’s difficult to hold onto what we know to be true about God, when we live in a culture which has a very different worldview. That was the challenge faced by God’s people in exile in Babylon, the people addressed by Isaiah 40-55. It’s hard work to stand out from the majority, to hold onto beliefs and a lifestyle that make you different from your neighbours.
The secret is to remember who God is, to hold onto what we know to be true about him. If we can do this, we’ll discover the endurance we need to persevere in challenging circumstances. Bill Drewett continues our series.
