Today we start a new series, looking at the middle section of the book of Isaiah, chapters 40 to 55.
Anyone reading through the book of Isaiah will notice a sudden change in tone at the start of chapter 40. The warnings of judgement give way to a message of comfort, forgiveness and hope. It’s as though a different God is speaking through the prophet.
To make sense of this abrupt change, we need to understand the big story of the people of God in the Old Testament, and recognise how the second part of Isaiah addresses people in very different circumstances from the first part.
Bill Drewett introduces our new series.
