After Joshua led the people into the promised land they settled there and for many years they obeyed God and lived happily. But after a while they started to forget Gods laws and so God gave them special people to be judges…we are going to learn about some of these judges over the next few weeks and how God used these judges to look after his people.
Try this amazing water trick that reminds us how we can trust in God as God is always with us.
You need: A glass of water (about 1/4 filled) and a piece of card.
Place the piece of card over the top of the glass, making sure that the whole of the rim is covered by it, and press down.
Hold onto the top of the card with one hand and move your other hand down the glass, towards the bottom of it. Carefully flip the glass upside down, making sure you keep holding the card in place. You may get a TINY bit of drip page at this point, but don’t panic!
Now slowly move your card holding hand out from underneath and the card should stick, holding the water at bay!
The card is held in place by the air pressure pressing upwards which is stronger than gravity pressing downwards.
We can’t see the air pressure but we know it must be working or the water would drop out. We can’t see God but we know that he is there holding us up and supporting us too.
Dear God, Thank you that you are always with us! Thank you that like Gideon, we can trust you to help us, look after us and show us good things, even when we don’t have very much. Thank you that you love to spend time with us and that when we talk to you, you love to listen to us. What shall we tell God about today?
