Why we do compassion
The ‘service’ ministries are simply the group of ministries that we do that are marked by serivce to others. We do these things to help us learn to live lives marked by Godly compassion and service as we recognise that these ministries are but entry points to a lifestyle of helping people as God indicates. The service ministries provide an environment for us to learn about God and His values, from God Himself, the people we serve and the people we serve with.
We also believe that part of our own healing (be that financial, emotional, physical or spiritual) will take place as we reach out and see God meeting these needs in other’s lives.
Further, God’s loving pity extends to all people, regardless of background and life circumstances. We also hope and desire that people will catch a glimpse God’s love and kindness through the things we do and say and be drawn into relationship with Him.
We want to help meet the needs of people on low incomes or who have difficulty in meeting the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. We also help those who may be physically, emotionally or spiritually poor. At present, bristol vineyard has various areas in which we regularly reach out to different groups of people: prison ministry, The Wild Goose, The Banquet, Chocolate Giveaway, Salt and decorating ministries. Again, these are only a start; there are many more activities taking place throughout the community and our Housegroups than can be mentioned in the Rough Guide, just as there are yet more people and places we would like to reach.
If you would like to know more about any of these ministries or how you can get involved, you can either call the church office (0117 373 1414) or speak to someone at the welcome desk.
